Diego, our guide, was quick and responsive online, getting us scheduled for a same day... read more tasting (likely just in the off season). He then was took us on an excellent tour of some of the grounds giving us a history of the vineyard and winery, specifics about the grapes and methods used, and fun days about the property and the region in general. Finally the tasting: it takes place in the most beautiful setting, a building looking west over the river and valley that feels like you're floating over a pool. The sampling menu has something for everyone and can give you a taste of all the wines they have to offer (currently only white, one orange, and one rosé). There are also options for tapas, cheese, and other food pairings with the samples. Our party has some unusual dietary restrictions and Diego was extremely accommodating and made our experience so memorable.

    Quinta de Santa Teresa, in the Baião subregion of Vinho Verde, is one of the most beautiful wineries we visited in Portugal! The drive up set the stage: narrow, steep,... read more and winding roads that eventually turned to cobblestones, with parking along a stone wall at the top. It felt remote and special from the moment we arrived. The tasting room is modern, with glass walls offering panoramic views of the surrounding hills. Just outside are a pool and lounge chairs that make it feel like a retreat. We arrived a little early and were encouraged to explore the grounds, which were stunning: walnut, fig, and apple trees, statues, fountains, tile murals, and even a historic family “vacation” home. The vineyard itself is certified organic, with many vines trained on pergolas or steep terraces. We even saw one vine that was over 200 years old, and harvest was in full swing as trucks of grapes navigated the same narrow road we had just climbed. The wines were excellent, with tastings of single-varietal and blends from Avesso, Arinto, and Alvarinho. Our favorite was the crisp, refreshing Avesso, which we bought to enjoy with our picnic. We found a shady stone table overlooking the valley and could have easily spent the rest of the day there. On our way out, we drove under the vineyard pergolas and stopped at a small chapel with a bell, once used to signal the start and end of the workday. Of course, we had to ring it! Beautiful views, welcoming staff, and fantastic wines make Quinta de Santa Teresa a must-visit if you’re in Vinho Verde!

Lovely tasting room in a visually floating building above a pool. Reasonable cost. We took home some Avesso, a locally native grape varietal. Wonderful service. We felt like we were at a spa. Note that the cobblestone road up the hillside to the winery is narrow. We were fortunate to arrive toward day's end when we didn't need to encounter a driver coming down the hill.

They have four different tastings,... read more I did the Avesso tasting and every wine was different from the other and we walked away with a couple bottles. We did a self guided tour through the vineyards and the old house and past the new one. Such beautiful pictures and 300 year old vines. We also shared the tapas. The cheese was like a burrata but they said it was cottage from sheep. The sausage was so soft and delish. An amazing experience for all of us.

The two staff members were extremely friendly and shared info and tips about the place, wines, and surroundings. We stayed for almost two hours. The tasting was a lot of fun and Diogo who poured the wine also brought out locally made olives and some zucchini (!) jam that was soo good. We bought one of their whites to take home. They only have whites and a couple of roses. As red lovers we were daunted at first but the wines were really nice, especially on a warm autumn day. Highly recommend!

Alfonso and... read more Diogo were exceptional hosts, and the food and wine served was all really interesting and showed the uniqueness of the region. The property is absolutely gorgeous and sat atop the hills of the Douro Valley. Not the easiest to find or get to, but you work will be rewarded. Highly recommended and we’d love to come back in the future.

This breathtaking organic winery and vineyard uses sustainable techniques that date from... read more as far back as the Roman Era to produce award-winning endemic wines. A passion project by two electrical engineers, the winery is owned and cared for by people who are extremely passionate about both their product and the environment that produces it. My host Diogo was incredibly warm, friendly, and so obviously in love with the place. And there's no doubt in my mind that this was the best wine I've ever had. 🍇 So delicious and pure! The tapas and cheeses were incredible as well. All money very well spent. GO HERE! I am definitely making my way back some day in the not too distant future!!

The location is gorgeous, the view... read more is 360° from the tasting room. Also good facilities, AC and two toilets. Our guide was so sweet, friendly and informative. They also helped us arrange and book the tasting with short notice due to the train strikes, we couldn't see if the train would be canceled until day of. But they were very helpful and accommodating over email. They helped arrange taxi to and from Ermida station as well. Definitely worth the 1,5 hour train ride from Porto!
